The service is not available in my country without VPN. It would be great to have an alternative like IMDB not to rely solely on one service.

This is definitely on my radar! I've had this in mind since initially starting to design tvmv, in fact. For several reasons: APIs dying or turning crappy, APIs with different strengths/weaknesses, etc. Diversification, basically. But yours is an even better reason, and one that didn't occur to me.
