The Alternate FP Formats Task Group is tasked with driving the Alternate FP Formats specification and setting up alternate FP encoding framework for defining how alternate FP modes are encoded in the ISA. And the group is also responsible for standardizing alternate non-IEEE FP formats (BF16 would be supported as the highest priority) by defining arithmetic operations, including rounding mode, handling of exceptions, special values, etc. The task group will also propose additional specific-format instructions and opcodes as appropriate based on existing IEEE-FP instructions from other extensions like Zfh/F/D/V/Ediv extensions.
