As discussed with Phillips, the API user would like to request the data by its product type.
Product types:

Historical Reanalysis
True Observations
Short-term Forecast
Seasonal/Subseasonal Forecast

Note: this request parameter will be mandatory as GAP will not aggregate the resulting data when an attribute exists in multiple product types.
