Feedback on Korean Font Representation

Hello,

First of all, I just want to say again how much I love Kando! It’s truly an amazing app.

That said, I wanted to bring up an issue with how Korean text is displayed—right now, it looks quite off.

1. Font Choice
The current Korean font in Kando feels a bit like the equivalent of Comic Sans for English speakers. While it might have a calligraphic or "oriental" look to non-Koreans, to native speakers, it appears outdated and out of place.

For a modern and clean look—especially in apps and websites—we typically use Gothic-style fonts (similar to sans-serif in English). I know simpler fonts might seem too plain, but trust me, clean and minimal design is often the best and most timeless choice. :)

2. Italic Text in Korean
Most Asian scripts, including Korean, don’t use italics the way Latin scripts do. Instead, we use variations in brightness, saturation, or thickness to create emphasis. So when Korean text is italicized, it looks unnatural and awkward.

I'm currently working on a completely new settings dialog. This is mostly because using a full-screen dialog was a pretty bad design decision. You can see some early mockups here. You can also join our Discord where I post updates more frequently!

So once this new dialog is in a usable state and translatable, I would love to get your feedback!

I checked out the new design, and I absolutely love it! It looks so much cleaner and more polished.

You have an incredible eye for detail, user experience, and design—qualities that are pretty rare to see in a developer. The new version really reflects that! (To be honest, the previous settings screen was the only part of Kando that felt a little unpolished, haha.)

Your comment about the full-screen dialog being a "pretty bad design decision," and honestly, I didn’t mind it at first. But once I started configuring multiple things at the same time, I did run into some difficulties—mainly because the full-screen layout didn’t allow other windows to stay on top. That made it a bit of a hassle when I needed to check notes or reference other windows while setting things up.

Another small frustration was that the settings menu didn’t remember the last selection after reopening, which made subsequent configurations feel a bit repetitive.

From what I can see, your new design is going to solve all of this—I can’t wait to try it out! Once it's in a translatable state, of course I’ll be sure to check whether the Korean representation and translations feel smooth in the new version.
