I installed EMFTA in Eclipse Mars Modeling tools (Windows 7 environment). I have Java 8 (jre1.8.0_60) installed. I do not get the EMFTA Wizards choice under File->New->Other menu. The Eclipse Installation Details Show: Eclipse Modeling Tools 4.5.0.20150621-1200, and EMFTA 1.0.0.201508201543. I have also gone into Windows->Preferences->Java->Installed JREs and made jre1.8.0_60 the default. I also see no Perspective for EMFTA. I have restarted eclipse after making these changes.

What URL did you use to install EMFTA? Did you try the latest build? https://raw.githubusercontent.com/juli1/emfta/master/edu.cmu.emfta.updatesite/

Julien:

The original install was done by dragging the “Install” Icon on the
https://marketplace.eclipse.org/content/emfta-0” web page. If I place
the
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/juli1/emfta/master/edu.cmu.emfta.updatesite/”
into the “Work With” box on the “Help->Install New Software” menu, I
receive the following message in the middle window ”There are no
categorized Items” and the only button active in the lower right corner
of this menu is “Cancel”. I have never been able to install the EMFTA
by this method.

The only way anything begins to get installed is by the drag and drop
method.

Sorry it’s taking me so long to respond but I have been traveling quite
a bit.

Thanks for your help.

When using the update site, did you try to disable the categories? There is a button to disable the categories when selecting what to install, can you try to disable it?

Thanks.

I disabled the categories and I was able to perform the install from
Help->Install New Software. But the results are the same, no EMFTA
Wizard to create a project and no EMETA perspective. These are the same
symptoms I had with the drag and drop install.

Thanks again

Hello,

I updated the update site and double check that the installation is done correctly. Please follow the following instruction.

  1. Download the Eclipse mars modeling version on eclipse.org
  2. Go to install new Software
  3. Use the following site: https://raw.githubusercontent.com/juli1/emfta/master/edu.cmu.emfta.updatesite/

Follow the steps, restart eclipse

Create a general project
Click on File -> New -> Other
You should have the EMFTA menu then

If you experience issues when trying to install the new version, clear your cache (from Oomph). This might happen because Eclipse cache previous version of an installation. See http://www.ehow.com/how_8723392_clear-cache-eclipse.html for how to clean the cache.

This install is being done on an Ubuntu Linux system (14.04 LTS). I
will try it on a windows 7 system Monday.

I really appreciate all your help.

In His service,

Please clear your cache as mentioned. This error is related to the eclipse internal cache that keeps information when installing previous version of the plugin.
