aquaponics would be pretty sweet... |
@natevw has one hell of an aquaponics setup. |
@indexzero is also heavily into it. |
My idea is to try and do a day hackathon trying to get a raised bed hooked to a web interface, allowing people to build these on their roof or backyard, and do some small farming from home or work. This will involve managing a few basic thinks:
The goal is to contain the event to a single goal - getting a raised bed that everyone can easily build in their backyard online, and to enable people to automate it so it better fits with their busy life. |
@WardCunningham has some great experience here too Sent from my iPhone

Nvm, pinging people in private repos doesn't make sense. Why is this private? |
it's private in case, god forbid, someone does something like violate the CoC and the staff needs to respond. i don't want that public because it would make the name of the victim public. |
Doesn't look like I’ll have the time to work on this. Work just got crazy around here and I am trying to avoid over extending myself this year. Last year was a nightmare. Node is taking over EVERYTHING. The hard part here is figuring out the hardware requirements upfront. My three main ideas for hacks were:
This is not too complex but someone needs to figure out the specs for the hardware and the servos and the sensors. Need someone who can lead the web site front of things, and someone to lead construction. If someone else takes over the hardware and web parts, I am happy to lead the construction of the bed, dirt, plants, irrigation. Otherwise, I can't do it this time. |
I pulled it off the website. |
