Appearance swither only visible in light mode

Issue description

Whenever I open my website in the dark mode, either by setting the preference with the appearance switcher or with OS toggle, the theme switcher is not visible.

There is no Hugo error, I also checked the browser console.

I solved this, as well as some other CSS issues like broken padding, by deleting the files in assets/css.
