Currently requires manual intervention using Create Block Theme
A WP CLI addition to Create Block theme might be nice
Is it possible to add a button to the editor?

Adding controls in the site editor itself is cool.

As long as the plugins extend the editor and don't overwrite standard theme UX controls (which is what a lot of plugins do, creating vendor lock-in)

Pulling in the comment from the stream in response to @victorkane's comment:
"definitely. extensibility is important but done smartly. and the extensibility available right now in the editor is good that way, but there's just..nearly not enough."

Aside from that, I think a wp cli command is good for now. While I know in the real world, most of us have to hack the editor, we shouldn't actually encourage it, instead, the editor should allow for this kind of extensibility.

It would definitely be fun to see how to create a plugin to add a button to the editor at some point
