Open Source SMTP Servers

Restore functionality requires using a local instance of an SMTP server.

Haraka
- implementation language: node.js
- problems: for outgoing mail, it doesn't act as a mail store, only as a relay agent.
RIMS
- implementation language: Ruby
- problems:
  - incomplete
  - some non-standard behaviour (e.g. doesn't support renaming INBOX)
