When tried to install, composer alerts, that version ^1.2 requires illuminate/support ^6.0|^7.0.
When tried to install version ^2.0, composer alerts, that it requires php ^8.0
Laravel 8 support PHP since 7.3, so there is an issue in composer definition for this package.
