SD Card Issue + Trackpad Question #85
Comments
made alot of progress, still no fix got access to the S/L/E filesystem using sudo mount -uw / confirmed i have the same card reader with same product ID edit the kext file exactly as instructions say, replaced the old file, follow all commands to clear the cache and reboot but nothing.... :/ have a 128GB SDXC and a 32GB SD i want to access, will happily tip anyone 5 pounds on paypal if you can help me with this |
Alps Trackpads are not properly supported on MacOS. You need a Synaptics one. Regarding card reader, it's better to use an usb card reader instead. Works out of the box with no hassle. |
thanks for the reply, so as for the comment about the trackpad, i see what you mean that Alps is not supported properly, but mine is actually working perfectly, like 100%, i can even click the center button to enable and disable page scrolling easily, something i think i heard in one of wolfgangs videos wont work on the synaptics?, so essentially when you sya i need Synaptics, what you mean is if i want to get control of all the fancy touchpad options? as for working card reader, using a usb card reader isnt a viable solution for me, your initial instructions are for working build in card reader correct? are you able to confirm if you have it working in catalina? |
Yes, only synaptics is supposed to support multi touch gestures. I can't confirm if it's working as I haven't a t440p running on Catalina on hand as of now. |
thanks, if we could keep this open untill we have confirmation whether internal SD card on T440p running Catalina is working that would be great, and then hopefully whoeever does have it working could let me know how :) will look into getting a synaptics pad to compare in the future definately as my OCD really wants everything working 100%, can anyone confirm if the center click on the synaptics pad works for them, im guessing it wouldnt be mappable but just stay as a click on and off page scroll button |
It runs for sure on Mojave, but it's broken on Catalina. |
Hello all, firstly thanks so much to anyone who has helped make this possible, being a somewhat noob ive been successfully able to get my T440P i just purchased 95% working
i have ordered a DW1820A card to get full wifi and bluetooth as my Intel dual band seems not to be working on 5GHz properly
ISSUE 1: my as for the SD card i followed all the steps and believe i did everything correctly but get stuck where it sais to rename the old file, the old file will not let me rename it or move it in any way and i can't seem to get it to work, im thinking maybe this guide was written pre-catalina and now the issue has recurred. if anyone can let me know how to get the SD card slot working that would be great
ISSUE 2 the touchpad i had the T440P pad working fine and it had all the trackpad options, i also followed the suggestion to disable inertia. but i found that i didnt like this trackpad and grabbeda T450 trackpad (ALPS), got it in and it seemed to be really slow and i lost all my touchpad options, looking through tlucks guide linked in the instrunctions i found another .kext which solved the sluggishness of my T450 trackpad but still wont give me any trackpad options, i can however now adjust the mouse and trackpad speed together and it works fine, just bugging me not being able to access the trackpad settings
coming from a 2017 macbook pro 13 4 thunderbolt ports this system is running great, i dodnt even want imessage or facetime cause its a pain, curious if i can even restore from a time machine backup if i take them or if it would be a hassle.
cheers
