Extracting obsidian links with pandoc filter

I have have an Obsidian MD file containing

These are notes from [[Roman - 2007 - Advanced linear algebra.pdf|Roman, S. (2007).  Advanced linear algebra  (3rd ed). Springer]]

and I would like to surround the text between [[ ]] with a \verb{...} and remove the [[ and ]]

this is my attempt (in python)

def remove_links(key, value, format, meta):
    if key == "Str":
        string_test = ["]]", "[["]

        if any(x in value for x in string_test):
            string_list = re.split(r'(\[\[.*?\]\])', value, flags=re.DOTALL)
            out_list = []

            for s in string_list:

                    s = re.sub(r"\]\]$", "", s)

                    out_list.append(s)

But this is the result after running pandoc:

I have been unable to figure out what is wrong.

Suggestion: use -f markdown+wikilinks_title_after_pipe. This will parse your snippet as

    , Link
        ( "" , [] , [] )
        [ Str "Roman,"
        , Space
        , Str "S."
        , Space
        , Str "(2007)."
        , Space
        , Str "Advanced"
        , Space
        , Str "linear"
        , Space
        , Str "algebra"
        , Space
        , Str "(3rd"
        , Space
        , Str "ed)."
        , Space
        , Str "Springer"
        ]
        ( "Roman - 2007 - Advanced linear algebra.pdf"
        , "wikilink"
        )

It should then be easy to write a filter that deals with this in the way you want.

Is Link an argument, so I have def remove_links(key, value, format, meta, Link) ?

No, you'd want def Link(el) and then fill it in appropriately. See the documentation on Lua filters, which has a number of examples.
