Checking user session if needed

Hi, I'm doing most of client-server communication via socket.io and having a problem when user is logged out in one tab, but from another tab opened before logging out he still can do many things via socket.io. I want to add checking of user session for specific routes. Is it possible with current code or I need to make a fork?
