Memoir class is a very versatile and popular LaTeX class for formatting book-like documents. It has been developped by Peter Wilson and is now maintained by Lars Madsen. Its manual has a lengthy introductory section on typographic considerations, which is a fine tutorial, written by someone who is aware of the issues as they apply to (La)TeX users.
La classe Memoir est une classe LaTeX très polyvalente et appréciée pour la mise en forme de documents de type livres, développée par Peter Wilson et actuellement maintenue par Lars Madsen Son manuel comporte une longue introduction sur les considérations typographiques et constitue une solide base, rédigé par un auteur conscient des problèmes qui se posent aux utilisateurs de (La)TeX.
The project of translating this introduction into French was first formulated at the Teddy's Bar, somewhere between 2006 and 2009. To our knowledge no freely available documentation of such high quality is available to the French-speaking community, and having a French translation would definitely help newcomers to typography (and LaTeX).

À notre connaissance, aucune documentation libre d'une telle qualité n'est disponible pour la communauté francophone, et disposer d'une traduction française aiderait vraiment les nouveaux venus à la typographie (et à LaTeX).

The English-speaking documents (both the manual and its separate introduction) have been modified to be typeset in two columns, with the right-hand column reserved for the French version.
Each paragraph shows a small traffic light indicating the current state of its translation:
- red: quick translation and basic formatting;
- orange: correction by the translator, some time later, and correct typesetting;
- green: reviewing by a second person.
Les documents d'origine, en anglais (à la fois le manuel et son introduction) ont été modifiés pour être composés en deux colonnes, la colonne de droite étant réservée à la version française.
Chaque paragraphe comporte un petit feu tricolore indiquant l'état actuel de sa traduction :
- rouge : traduction rapide et mise en forme de base ;
- orange : correction par le traducteur, quelques temps plus tard, et mise en forme complète ;
- vert : révision par une deuxième personne.
