Problem statement

I often need to search for specific test data. Typically a stock item will have a specific test result, but it seems that the general search by default does not include test data in its results.

E.g. data:

And lack of results:

Suggested solution

Include by default or allow a apparent way to look for test data across all stock items.

It would be great if it could be limited to a specific part, category, etc. to assist with redefining the results.

Describe alternatives you've considered

  • Specific, hidden search options in test data.
  • Having a export option to then manually search which likely is possible now
  • Looking at the DB rows itself or via Django admin

I don't know how this would perform as many instances I see have hundreds of MB of test data inserted. Looking through those is probably very expensive as they are not optimised for search. It could be an interesting addition though.

@jacobburrell this might be a good candidate for a plugin? Adding every possible option to the search results in general will result in so many results being returned that it's difficult to find what you are looking for in any case
