qatzip dependency on libcrypto

I m doing the packaging work for qatzip in Ubuntu
I see that libqatzip depends on libcrypto, i do not see any explanation of this dependency

could you please give me any insight about this ?

qatzip depends on qatlib.
qatlib depend on libcrypto.

That is an indirect dependency, and in configure.ac, should we list only direct dependencies ?

I see that we have -lcrypto in this file and i dont think that is necessary
