The noise we're seeing in the alerts channel is the main reason I don't like 'chat' being used for alerts.

We should integrate into something like prometheus-alertmanager, pagerduty or squadcast where the platform can work out there is already an open alert

  • monitoring - produce a stream of data that can be evaluated
  • incident - apply rules to the stream, and create incident (also handle existing open incidents)
  • alert - only needed when a new incident is created
