Port Connection

Hi, I'm new to Inav and I'm having trouble connecting Inav 7.1.1 to my speedbee F405 Wing controller.
I'm using a Lenovo Thinkpad X240 running Linux mint 21.
I don't have the usual 9pin serial port, so I'm trying to connect through one of the two usb ports.
If I use the auto connect target I get the message (2024-06-13 @ 18:24:40 -- Cannot prefetch target: Failed to open MSP connection).
I have no idea what that means or how to fix the issue.
