For a long time I was user of this project: I started writing my Bachelor using this library many years ago, at some point I started independent fork of the project to upgrade build systems for core and bindings libraries as it seamed development stalled or stopped completely (no new changes, no responses to reported issues).
From time to time I get notifications from the project when people post new issues that I know at this point will not be answered.
Over the years many forks popped up trying to provide support for this slowly dying library. I know that this project is part of Hyperic and in turn VMware but is there chance that community would be allowed to commit to this repo to have one official version ?
I guess this is question to you Doug (@dougm). Is there any plan to maintain this library/connect with community or should we consider it abandoned by Hyperic/VMware ? If it is the latter, would be nice to add this to README so that people would not have false sense of hope that issues will be solved in any reasonable time. Just note like: "This project is no longer actively developed and should be considered just as the archive of the code. For any fixes/improvements, check out the forks of the project."
