# DiscordCommands
2+
Java library for handling Discord interactions.
3+
4+
## Installation
5+
DiscordCommands requires Java 11, for the following reasons:
6+
- [salty-coffee](https://github.com/NeilMadden/salty-coffee) (library used for verifying Discord's interaction signatures) requires Java 11
7+
- We use the Java 9 HTTP Client for sending requests to Discord.
8+
9+
Artifacts are available from my Maven repository:
10+
11+
```xml
12+
<repositories>
13+
<repository>
14+
<id>hpfxd-repo</id>
15+
<url>https://repo.hpfxd.com/releases/</url>
16+
</repository>
17+
</repositories>
18+
19+
<dependencies>
20+
<dependency>
21+
<groupId>com.hpfxd.discordcommands</groupId>
22+
<artifactId>DiscordCommands</artifactId>
23+
<version>1.0.0</version>
24+
</dependency>
25+
</dependencies>
26+
```
27+
28+
## Usage
29+
```java
30+
CommandManager commandManager = new CommandManager();
31+
32+
commandManager.registerCommandHandler("testcommand", interaction -> {
33+
// Respond with "hello!", and add a button to the message
34+
return InteractionCallback.of(InteractionCallbackType.CHANNEL_MESSAGE_WITH_SOURCE,
35+
MessageUpdate.builder()
36+
.setContent("hello!")
37+
.addComponent(MessageComponent.builder()
38+
.setType(MessageComponentType.ACTION_ROW)
39+
.addComponent(MessageComponent.builder()
40+
.setType(MessageComponentType.BUTTON)
41+
.setStyle(ButtonStyle.PRIMARY)
42+
.setCustomId("example-button")
43+
.setLabel("A button!")
44+
.build())
45+
.build()).build());
46+
});
47+
48+
commandManager.registerComponentHandler("example-button", (interaction) -> {
49+
// Edit the original message
50+
return InteractionCallback.of(InteractionCallbackType.UPDATE_MESSAGE,
51+
MessageUpdate.builder()
52+
.setContent("You pressed the button!")
53+
.build());
54+
});
55+
56+
// Start the HTTP server for Discord to contact us at
57+
// You must set your interaction URL in your application dashboard.
58+
// The HTTP server must be accessible by Discord. (You can use something such as ngrok for testing)
59+
new CommandHttpServer(commandManager,
60+
new InetSocketAddress("0.0.0.0", 1337), // Listen on 0.0.0.0, with port 1337
61+
InteractionVerifier.of("Your public key"), null); // Your public key from your Discord application dashboard
62+
```
63+
The results:
64+
65+
![Example Screenshot 1](https://i.hpfxd.com/x1Vg)
66+
![Example Screenshot 2](https://i.hpfxd.com/keP4)
67+
68+
Note that this library does not handle registering commands with Discord, only handling them.
69+
You must register your commands manually, such as with [this tool](https://rauf.wtf/slash/).
70+
71+
If you ever find that your interactions are failing, you can enable debug logging by setting the system property `discordcommands.debug` to true.
72+
For example: `java -Ddiscordcommands.debug=true -jar YourApplication.jar`
