⚠️ This issue respects the following points: ⚠️

  • This is a enhancement/feature request. Not a bug or question.
  • The topic is not already reported at Issues. (I've searched it).
  • Markor is up to date. See Releases for the latest version. Updates are available from F-Droid and GitHub.
  • The wanted feature/enhancement is not present in the latest development version (git master). (Please download and try the test version of Markor, named Mordor. Don't worry; Markor and Mordor appear as completely separate applications. You can install both side-by-side, and Markor's settings are not touched. If your desired feature is present, you don't need to open this issue. The change will be part of the next Markor update.)

Description

Hi, I'm often using home screen shortcuts to quickly open files I use a lot. So I often add those links. To do this:

  • I search for the file name I want to link to
  • I open this file
  • Here I'd like to be able to add a link to this file on the home screen; I expected to see the action "make a shortcut" in the editor context menu but there is no

Workaround for now:

  • I search for the file name I want to link to
  • I remember the path to this file (I do not actually open the file)
  • I browse manually to the location of the file, search for the file with my eyes (sometimes very long as I've a ton of files in some folders)
  • I long press on the file to select it
  • Then I open context menu (via hamburger button) and I finally can drag'n drop my shortcut to the home screen

There is supposed to be a option for creating a shortcut via the top share menu, when you have the document open.

Somehow this is currently not visible, but generally this is available.

@gsantner gsantner changed the title Shortcuts to home screen action should be accessible while editing (not only in files list view) Editor: Share menu - Create Shortcut option is gone Feb 6, 2023

One can create a shortcut to any file or folder from the file explorer. Not sure why the option in share went away.

While you're on this the day you'll be on this: the same kind of option is missing for starring document (mark as favorite)

(I'm really missing those features !)

In constrast to shortcut, there hasn't been such a button in the past. Which doesn't mean it can't be added.

I opened #2086 for this

Thanks !
