Apparently, it thinks making quite a bunch of additional high-speed connectors is worth the effort?

I have a similar problem here, but it's excess HMFs instead: https://www.satisfactorytools.com/1.0/production?share=cuWdGx3kmpbK8VoYSBnb

From FAQ on Tools' Discord server:

I'm getting extra byproducts that I didn't ask for
This sometimes happens in some productions, not all byproducts can be used. Tools will however make sure to use as much as possible, before producing excess byproduct.

In some cases, the tool will convert byproduct to a different one. This often happens in maximise mode (which is best avoided). You can ignore it and keep the original byproduct. For technical reasons there's not an easy way to prevent tools from doing that. You can try disabling the recipes which the tool uses to convert the byproduct to a different one.
