Using the conventional node recording method, the session recording is uploaded once the session has ended cleanly. If your client disconnects, there is a timeout period where the session is still tracked and considered "active" before the session recording is uploaded. This can be anywhere between 30 minutes and 12 hours. Essentially - your session recordings will eventually be uploaded to Teleport (assuming that the ssh_service is still running on the server) but it might take some time.

Changing to node-sync recording mode will work fine even if you're not running the ssh_service on this particular instance. It changes the recording mode for all SSH sessions.
