was: How to remove a member from a team? How to revert a team to an individual entity?

I find the gittip teams too complicated to use, so I'd like to go back to making DocPad an individual entity.

  1. I can't find a way to remove team members from the DocPad team, as there is no remove button.

  2. I also can't find a way to turn off the teams ability altogether.

If you hover over the 1.00 in the This Week column it should show a strike-through. Click on the strike-through and it will remove that person. Remove all members and you're back to DocPad as an opaque group.

Sorry for the confusion. :-(

Cool done! Perhaps we can keep this open until we find a more obvious way to do it?

At the very least this should be documented on the FAQ.

Note: after you remove all team members, you should change the "We are making the world better by ..." statement to the "I am..." version. To reflect the fact its no longer a team.

I'm assigning this to myself as this is related to teams documentation for which I've opened the "teamdocs" branch.

@mvdkleijn Please only assign one ticket to yourself at a time. An assignment should mean "this is what I'm actively working on right now."

We don't want to revert "I am" to "We are" when you remove all members, because some accounts, such as DocPad, represent groups of people even though they're not using the transparent Teams feature.

@whit537 This ticket falls under the teams documentation as far as I'm concerned, which is what I'm working on. I was tempted to actually close this ticket as well as #1060 in favor of the PR for the teams documentation but decided that assigning them to me would more accurately reflect my attempt to capture this information in the teams documentation.

As for reverting "We are" to "I am", I was merely attempting to point out that if its no longer a team (nor representing a team), the statement should also be corrected by the account owner. That's entirely up to the DocPad account owner of course. My wording was probably off. 😄

@mvdkleijn We've got two issues here: one is documentation, the other is UI. @balupton above asked if we could use this ticket to improve the UI. I agree that we should document "un-teaming" on #1373.

@whit537 OK, my apologies.. I thought this one was about documentation too.. I didn't really have a problem with the UI myself so I (incorrectly) surmised this was about missing docs. Un-assigning.

+1 from @szabgab in #2598:

Now there is not button to "remove member", but I have to hover over the "This week" column in the https://www.gittip.com/about/me/members/ page to notice it is clickable. And it does not say what will happen if I click it.
I only know this is the way to remove a member by reading https://www.gittip.com/about/teams/

IMHO there should be a button next to each member name "remove" or "x" with "on hover" explaining what will happen.
