For whatever reason the Opensuse on this machine did not go well with the wifi; there were very long unexplainable delays in the transmission. Our other machines, 3 laptops, two tablets and three PCs, run fine with this OS. I switched this machine to Gecko and things are now fine. The version of Opensuse here was initially 15.4, but is now 15.5.
I have one problem, the keyboard layout. I write in several languages and need the US international one with dead keys, which I had in the Opensuse version. However, whichever layout I choose in settings or in the terminal, there are no dead keys; actually, there is no difference between the US/101, US/104 and the US/101intl. The settings show the intl as the one used and also in the terminal it is confirmed, but the actual keyboard stays on US/101. E.g., this should be a u with umlaut, but it gives: "u. The ALT-key always works with accentegue; Alt-U gives ú, and ß and ¿ also are fine.
I get the u-umlaut with ALT-y: ü and the a-umlaut with ALT-q: ä,, but that is unworkable searching. With my mouse I do not have the middle click anymore, but that is a minor problem.
Can anyone tell me how to get the intl layout with dead keys? This machine is an ASUS laptop, reliable but nothing fancy. It has also Win11 installed as secondary and that, as the Opensuse, does recognise the intl version, so the keyboard is OK.
