Gecko linux image that includes every edition

I would like to have an image of Gecko linux that includes every desktop environment, for testing.

It's inconvenient to flash and try out all the offerings one by one.

Could you provide such an image?

Hi there, no, that's not really possible, things wouldn't work well together.

Certain desktop environments practically depend on a specific login manager to provide certain functionality. The Mate desktop has a bug where it takes a very long time to load with one of the XDG desktop portal implementations installed, whereas other desktop environments require that same portal implementation. And the list goes on.

I see. That certainly is troublesome.

However, many distributions provide the ability to test several desktop environments in live mode.

That's exactly what GeckoLinux offers. It has no less than nineteen (19) different live editions for easily testing all of the major desktop environments available in both branches of openSUSE to help the user choose which is best for his/her needs and preferences before committing to one of them. But ultimately GeckoLinux is not intended as a test bed or a showcase, but rather as a serious OS to install and then use for work or play without constantly messing around with the underlying operating system or switching back and forth between desktop environments.

I was talking about trying out multiple editions in one go is something many distros offer. Flashing the images and trying out 19 of them one by one is…quite time-consuming.

But I think I got your point. Including multiple desktop environments in one live image is not ideal.

You could make a multiboot USB drive and try the different environments that way.

Maybe the way endeavorOS does it? lol, where it's any DE that isn't on the ISO needs to be downloaded.
