Description

  • Expected behavior: It's possible to use GPU lidar inside Fortress demo world
  • Actual behavior: Crash

Steps to reproduce

  1. Load this world: ign gazebo -r "https://fuel.ignitionrobotics.org/1.0/OpenRobotics/worlds/Fortress demo"

  2. Close the world, edit ~/.ignition/fuel/fuel.ignitionrobotics.org/openrobotics/worlds/fortress\ demo/1/fortress.sdf

  3. Add this sensor into the world:

  4. Load the world again. It will crash.

Update: removing the heightmap fixes the crash, so there's some incompatibility between the heightmap and the GPU lidar.

can you give gazebosim/gz-rendering#356 a try? I was able to insert a lidar in that branch:
fortress_lidar
