The router should work in a limited form without the configuration of a ip address (using ULA iPv6). The wizard will ask for ip registration and other steps of configuration in a gamified way.
As I saw several people who connected their home router with LAN instead of WAN at the Freifunkrouter it might make sense to set all ports to WAN as the default option. I think besides edge cases everyone is able to configure their router via WLAN.
I strongly disagree with setting all ports to WAN. An alternative solution would be to have the router check if there is another DHCP server on the LAN ports, and if yes, change the SSID to some kind of info warning, have the LED's blink SOS, or something like that.
