Before we submit the project, here's some things that still should be done:

  • Put the specific-location network graphs that Brad made up on the website.
  • Fill out more specific-location pages.
  • Flesh out the index page.
  • @BMT45 add your bio to the "About" page.
  • Fix the image mapping (i.e. make more maps to fix the clustering problem) on the Wanderings page.
  • Replace the javascript currently included in the head of several html pages with external Javascript files.
  • Fix the Chapter sections so that there's a uniform appearance shared by all of the sections. So they should all have the same menus, css links, javascript, etc.
  • Make sure that the website checks out with the WC3 Standards for web design.
  • As per the feedback we got, add a little more information on the section web pages.
  • Add a methodology page with information about how we distinguished between allusions, references, and persons etc.
  • Each of us needs to write an email to the instructors (I'm guessing that this is Dr. B because it would be kind of weird for you guys to write an email to yourselves?) describing your contributions to the project.
  • Final project writeup and submission

If there's anything else that either of you think that we should do, comment it below and we'll try to make it happen.

All of this is due at 11:59p.m. on Thursday.

Ok, so I was going through the locations, and I'm thinking that we don't need to have graphics pages for the locations that don't include any reference, allusion, or person elements. You could make the argument that Joyce, because he didn't include any of those things, wasn't intending to use allusions to characterize that specific location, and thus that location is irrelevant to this part of the project. Nothing about the chapter pages should change, and we should also keep the maps of each section as they are.

After weeding out the locations without allusion/reference/person elements in them, we've got 40 total to include on the website instead of 70. I'm going to be taking the irrelevant locations out of the SSI on the graphics pages, but here's a master list of the locations that should be on the website (some of them are already done):

  • Annesley Bridge
  • Bedford Row
  • Blessington Street
  • 42 Camden Street Lower
  • Christchurch Place
  • College Green
  • The Coombe
  • Dalkey, Dublin Bay
  • Dame Street
  • Eccles Street
  • Finglas Road
  • Fitzgibbon Street
  • Fleet Street
  • Grafton Street
  • Hume Street
  • Island Street
  • Loopline Bridge
  • Lord Edward Street
  • Malahide Road
  • Mary's Abbey
  • Merchant's Arch
  • Merrion Square
  • Mountjoy Square
  • Nelson Street
  • North Circular Road
  • North Strand Road
  • Northumberland Road
  • O'Connell Bridge
  • Ormond Quay
  • Parliament Street
  • Pearse Street
  • Phibsborough Road
  • Rutland Grove
  • Sandycove
  • Sandymount Strand
  • Townsend Street
  • Watling Street
  • Wellington Quay
  • Westland Row
  • Wicklow Street

Since this is due tonight, I'm thinking that we're not going to get all of the location web pages done, and that's okay. I finished a few more and threw them up there.
@KSD32 I saw that you were working on The Coombe. I fixed your javascript and finished the map section but the permissions on FileZilla are blocking me from making the updates... could you change the permissions so that I can upload an edited version of that file?
@BMT45 If you could just comment a sentence about yourself below, I could put it on the About page. This is really the last thing we need from you.

I'm going to be adding some stuff to the section web pages, uploading the methodology page that I came up with, finishing off a few more location pages and writing something about why we didn't get them all finished, checking the website for WC3 stuff, and finally fixing the image mapping on the Wanderings page.

I'd like to be able to submit this project to @ebeshero by at the latest 10 or 11 tonight, so that's what I'm going to do regardless of what else gets finished in the meantime. Let me know if you have any questions or problems and thanks for all of your help!

It should be updated now.

@KSD32 I'm still not able to upload it. Maybe it would just be easier if you just grabbed it from the HTML directory and uploaded it?

@frabbitry @KSD32 Let me dive in and update the permissions myself. I suspect the problem is the group writing permissions.

@frabbitry Good! Let me know if you run into more trouble of a like nature. I hear that a quick way to fix this if I'm not around is to delete a file on the server and overwrite it with yours.

But I'm not sure if that's reliable intel.
