Hi all,

You can find my (@Ximi1970) patched Thunderbird 60 version here:

v0.6.2

New:
You can (de)select appindicator in the preferences.
(only available in Linux with libappindicator3 installed, TB restart required)

v0.6.1

or

v0.6.1 appindicator version

If you have any problems please let me know at Issues.

Was upset on the upgrade that the orig version was disabled and not working. Then I stumbled across this link and works just fine. Only problem I see is no options to set preferences on how it should work. Looks like it picked up my preferences from the previous release such as start minimized, close and minimize to task. Using Mint 19 if that matters.

Edit: My bad, the settings are still accessible via the icon on the task bar.

That's great @Ximi1970! Thank you.

Have you considered trying to take over this addon, so it can be installed via the Mozilla store again?

What is the difference between this one and https://github.com/firetray-updates/FireTray/tree/thunderbird-57?

This one works with the new thunderbird 60+, the one you linked to is marked as discontinued and doesn't work with the new release of TB

Thanks! Saved my life this morning when I noticed that the tray icon (and calendar) in Thunderbird was suddenly gone.

Thank you, @Ximi1970.

I can confirm that the self-compiled version of your feature-tb60 branch works with Ubuntu MATE LTS 18.04 AMD64 and Thunderbird 60.2.1.

  • display unread message count in every chosen icon
  • gtk status icon (left click show/hide) or appindicator icon (no left click action)
(new preference for linux in v0.6.2)
  • still usable in 52.*

@foudfou Would you like if someone could become the maintainer of the FireTray? Or should it be forked and it's name changed if someone wants to keep the project alive?

@tuxayo sure, anyone is welcome to take over the project, with or without the same name. I'm also happy to pass on the AMO Firetray if that makes sense.
