Both closing via Ctrl+Q (or Ctrl+W when having open the last tab) closes the FireTray icon in the gnome desktop's system tray on my system. The expected behaviour would be that firefox is minimized into the tray and not fully closed.
Note that the "closing window hides to tray" preference is set.
I am using the gnome desktop with ubuntu 14.04 packages, i.e., firefox 44.0+build3-0ubuntu0.14.04.1 and have installed the FireTray version 0.6.0.1-let-fixed

Similarly, this happens in Thunderbird, also on Ubuntu (16.10). Additionally, clicking on the "X" to close the window normally closes to tray but sometimes it just closes and wham Thunderbird is no longer running and you're left wondering why that person hasn't emailed you back!
