Dumb question - based on current status is there a big difference in stability?

Ok - this may seem like a dumb question to some, and if it is then I apologize in advance.
Have been using the FBW since the beginning and not long after the "old experimental" version was created I jumped on it in order to use the better autopilot. Yes, there where occasionally bugs but was always able to work around or at worst if a bug was really bad then the bug was normally fixed the day after.
Since the fork I have to admit that, at least to me, things have changed - a lot. This is to be expected as all beginnings are hard but the last 3-4 flights I simply had to kill it and walk away as the stuttering and bugs simply took over the "fun" of flying.
So I read the warning list and it is long, again no complaints there from me, but here comes my question.
If I still want to try out new stuff and not run the stable version then can anyone tell me if the stability between dev version and experimental version is identically or is the dev version more like the "old version" I used to use?
There is no list of known issues on the dev page, so I am assuming it is better or?
Again this is just a snapshot in time question - I know the experimental version will catch up, but until then..
