My wife has been using a Cameo 3 for several years and has just 'advanced' to a Cameo 4. The second tool apparently has a much greater operating force than the left-hand tool but I see that in inkscape-silhouette both tools have the same maximum force of 33.

Does inkscape-silhouette support the higher forces and, if so, how?

I'm happy to test and (with some guidance) even help develop this excellent tool further.

I do not have a Camoe 4 with dual tools so I have no experience with handling of multiple tools.

But I think basically it should be relatively easy to increase the limits of the forces. (At least for testing purposes)

Do you made any progress by yourself already?

Thanks for the reply.

Changing the maximum force is trivial. But what I don't know is the pressure range supported in GP-GL or the Cameo 4 itself.

All I've done so far is trim some plastic off the pen adaptors so that they will fit into the second tool holder!!!

Hi, can you please share your experience of using the second tool with this extension. Original software is unable to cut in straight/regular lines with second tool. Only with hooks and loops. Even with "smart cut" disabled. Could this extension make the second tool behave like the first, but with more power?

p.s thanks in advance

Hello Zaza,

I've had no problems with cutting/drawing with the second tool.

As you can see, I've had no replies to my previous question about what GP-GL can support. I've not tried changing the maximum force as I have no way of measuring whether it's worked.

Sorry.

John.

you had no idea , how reassuring this sound))

When i tried to use second tool with original soft to cut simple square , it looks like that . If with this extension I can get it to cut straight, it would be a miracle))

i have one way , so if it would work as planned , i will informe you)

Sorry.

thank you for so quick response

Here's the GP-GL specification:
https://www.i3detroit.org/wi/images/0/0c/GP-GL.pdf
There's a PEN ACCELERATION & FORCE parameter.

In the GP-GL specification it mentions that the Graphtec CE5000-120 uses a value of 1-38.

Looking at the CE5000-120:
https://www.eurosystems.lu/produkte/schneideplotter/Graphtec_CE5000-120-e.htm?closewindow=ja&sprache=eng
I see that it confirms that 38 corresponds to the maximum force setting of 450gf.

The Cameo 3 specification:
https://www.silhouette101.com/archives/specification-cameo
quotes a maximum force of 210gf which I guess corresponds to 33.

The Cameo 4 specification:
https://www.silhouette101.com/archives/cameo-4-specifications
mentions a maximum 5kgf for the second tool.

So I'm guessing that there is no limit to the PEN ACCELERATION & FORCE parameter and that it's simply a number which, in itself, doesn't define the force. I reckon that the relationship between number and force is an arbitrary scaling within the machine.

The question is, on the Cameo 4, what does that number actually mean? For example in the machine does the range 1-33 mean minimum to maximum force, i.e. for tool 1, 33 means 210gf and for tool 2 it's 5000gf?. Or is it linear and for tool 2, for the maximum force the number 150 should be used? Or something completely different.

It' s really my wife's toy but I'll have a play and see if I can answer some of those questions.

John.

So I've ordered one of these:
https://www.dfrobot.com/product-1842.html

It's coming from China so could take a while.

By embedding it in some card, I'm hoping I can get some idea of the relative force of the tools if I assume that 33 = 210gf in tool 1.

I'll report back in due course.

I'll report back in due course.

I tried 2nd tool, even though its pressure goes from 0 to 33 , its power is far greater.

Pressure 15 on 2nd tool instantly cuts through my laminated sheet. First tool on Pressure 33 could do it only with 3 passes.

But 2nd tool cuts are too round , even squares have rounded cornres. Do your cut with 2nd tool also somewhat rounded?

p.s i cant make my cameo read marks correctly with this plugin, any tips?

This suppose to be squar squar
