Users like visiting websites that are expensive to create and maintain, but they often want or need to do it without paying directly. These websites fund themselves with ads, but the advertisers can only afford to pay for humans to see the ads, rather than robots. This creates a need for human users to prove to websites that they're human, sometimes through tasks like challenges or logins.
There is absolutely no substance as to why challenges or logins aren’t enough.
Also, as respectfully as I can be about this, and as a user, I don’t give the slightest about what advertisers can or can’t finance.

maybe if the advertisers can't pay enough for ads they need to consider cutting back on some expenses or exploring alternative ethical income streams rather than passing on the costs to the end-users in the form of added resource usage, both human and not
