• Primarily bugfixes, minor extensions, addressing small ESP IDF 5 compatibility issues
• New features (only if time permits): asyncification of some drivers:
  • GPIO (waiting on input pins) - ready
  • SPI - need to review the status of the PR
  • Wifi / Eth - 90%

matter-rs

• Working on no_std-ification + de-alloc-ification + compatibility with async
• Turns the matter-rs code in a bit of a "toolkit" where user decides which parts to use
• Also: swaps the paradigm upside-down from (current) user code delivered as callbacks, into (future) user code driving the whole receive-process-send loop
• However: effort is huge, changeset is huge
• Likely will scale-back the effort as follows:
  • (+) Code will be no_std-ified
  • (+) Code won't need alloc
  • (-) No toolkit. User code will remain in callbacks
  • (-) From above ^^^ => user code ("callbacks") will have to be synchronous (async callbacks are way too complex ATM). That implies the need to use an in-memory state cache and kind of an "optimistic" transactions so that matter reads/writes are answered instantly, while the actual async code that talks to the peripherals runs later

(STOP-GAP ONLY) chip-sys

• Repo made public
• Only runs on Linux currently
• Same metaphor as the no-stdification that will hopefully land in the native Rust matter-rs at some point: synchronous user callbacks with optimistic transactions; async code runs outside the transaction
