When someone is invited to a direct message room and the invitee’s app is logged out or killed (sdk not active), when the invitee opens the app, they will see the room as a non-direct message room. When the app is active and receives the room in real time, the SDK makes the room a direct message room for the invitee automatically. We would expect the same when the invitee does a sync.
