Your use case

What would you like to do?

Add option to keep showing the counter of unread messages until you read the message and not delete it when you click a channel/chat. Additionally messages should have a highlight that disappear when you read the message.

Why would you like to do it?

When chatting with different multiple channels, one often switches between them. Unfortunately the hint/counter of unread messages on the sidebar disappears after clicking a channel even though one has not read the messages. I lose track of my unread messages.

It is a feature that Rocket.Chat has by default (not as an option) and also that Schildi.Chat based on the older Element chat provides.

How would you like to achieve it?

Someone adding this feature to the different version of the chat.

Have you considered any alternatives?
