Documentation for Installing and Upgrading Lich

Before proceeding to install Lich, please ensure you can get into the game using Wrayth without Lich

1. If you are installing Lich/Ruby for the first time. Start here.

• Windows steps
  1. Download the latest Lich release for Windows
  2. Install Lich on Windows
  3. Log into the game with Lich for the first time
  4. Proceed to Game-specific procedures if playing Dragonrealms.
• Linux steps
• Mac steps
  • Detailed in the GS Wiki, applies to DR, and GS. Uses Avalon as a Front End

2. If you are upgrading Lich/Ruby from a previous version. Start here instead.

• Windows steps
  1. Capture some useful data from your existing Lich install
  2. If your Ruby version is 3.2.2 or higher, Just do an in-place lich-update: Login a single character and run ;lich5-update --update. Skip steps 3, and 4.
  3. Uninstall Lich on Windows
  4. Install Lich on Windows
  5. Reconcile settings new and old Lich installations
  6. Proceed to Front-End Procedures if relevant, else, you're done!
