Rule 25 commands to provide size-fitted versions of images and do not resize on client size -by CSS or HTML arguments) to limit bandwidth consumption.

A digital publication is downloaded only once, so the bandwidth impact is limited.

On the other side, modern reading systems provide full-screen viewing of images as detailed in Thorium 2 documentation Zooming on images. Therefore, having limited-quality images will make the functionality less attractive.

Règle 25 commande de fournir des versions adaptées à la taille des images et de ne pas les redimensionner en fonction de la taille du client (par des arguments CSS ou HTML) afin de limiter la consommation de la bande passante.

Une publication numérique n'est téléchargée qu'une seule fois, l'impact sur la bande passante est donc limité.

D'autre part, les systèmes de lecture modernes permettent de visualiser les images en plein écran, comme indiqué dans la documentation Thorium 2 Zoom sur les images. Par conséquent, des images de qualité limitée rendront la fonctionnalité moins attrayante.

The proposal is to change this rule title to something like Images are not resized for no reason. and discuss a range of acceptable image resolution to include.
