For french canadian channels lang= tag must be set to fr so accentuated characters are managed.
Otherwise they get interpreted in both kodi and TVH as éèê... ends-up being î or é ...

Proposal:

  1. Create an XML channel list for non-english channels
  2. Create an XML translation file for categories and include both english + language specific categories.

I added a language identification feature in the latest version. You need to install langid on the target machine. I am assuming you are running the code through the grabber in TVHeadend. There are instructions on the home page to install langid in a debian environment.

We can create the ability to select the language for each station as well. I thought having langid do it will be easier and a better solution. Let me know.
