Publishing a new article on eXist-db always fails

1. Visit http://www.exist-db.org/exist/apps/wiki/blogs/eXist/
2. Click "Login" and enter your creds (I am logging in as admin).
3. Click "Admin" button
4. Click "New Markdown Article"
5. Complete the form
6. Click "Permissions", then untick "Private"
7. Click "Save and Close"

The article appears to disappear and is not published.

This happens every time I write up the release notes, and it drives me nuts, as I have to get someone to fix it. I have tried to follow the instructions in the release guide to manually repair the bug but that doesn't seem to be correct either.
