Collect feedback and changes from day one here:

  • We should include the case sensitivity in the introduction
  • We should mention raising numbers to different powers somewhere.

Note that timing was pretty much spot-on with about 40 minutes setting things up, and some good questions

"Mostly good. Maybe write a program to evaluate some data that we keep returning to rather than separate examples"

"Pros:

  • Well thought out, very useful content
  • Pitched at a level I can follow (6 months Matlab and 6 months R experience)
Con: I find exercises that cannot be completed without knowledge I haven't been given yet difficult and disheartening. e.g. transform = rotated pole without an explanation of what a transform is. I find it more constructive to be given the info then be asked to implement it in a different way in the exercise."

"+ Good amount of context and practicals.

  • Some practicals required a bit more knowledge"

"Good:

  • Really knowledgable and helpful demonstrations: THANKS!
  • Notebooks are very well explained and clear to read

To improve:

  • Maybe talk more about how python is set up, how to install modules, why use environments"

"+ The matplotlib legend and file saving commands will save me so much time over what is required in IDL!

  • Numpy section was covered very quickly (code snippets in particular)"

"+Good pace for people with no knowledge of Python.
-The network was your fault right ;-)"

"Good: Understandable for a beginner, helpful exercises, well explained
Bad: ---"

"Notes are really good, is great to have them instead of having to copy everything every time.
Maybe more info on how to use it for big data or large number number of experiments? I mean, I have a lot of simulations and I want to plot some stuff for all of them - whats the best way to do it?
How to use it on Archer? Is there info online (possibly, sorry if this is a silly question)"

"- Add columns/rows to an array? ? on more advanced scripting (?)

  • Good interactivity, well done!!"
