What does the SDK version in this announcement mean? When I build the source code attached to the tag (https://github.com/dotnet/dotnet/releases/tag/v8.0.0-preview.5.23280.8), I get an SDK (dotnet-sdk-8.0.100-preview.5.23303.1-fedora.38-x64.tar.gz) with a different version than 8.0.100-preview.5.23303.2.

The build number described in the announcement is the build number produced by the Microsoft build of Preview 5. This isn't necessarily the same build number you'd get when running source-build. I've logged #3521 so that we can get this confusion resolved.
