At the time of writing, it looks like you additionally need to pass in a header that specifies the content type, so that the example invocation should look like

const response = await yoga.inject({
  headers: {
    'Content-Type': 'application/json',
  },
  document: '{ greetings }',
});

also note that the return type/shape is not what is given by the example, but the library typings should be able to give you the correct shape of the return value.

The documentation looks misleading. A PR is on the way to fix that. Actually you can get response and executionResult like below;

const { response, executionResult } = await yoga.inject({
  document: '{ greetings }',
})
