The average lifespan of a webpage is 100 days. We don't just loose part of the history of the web, we also loose stories, ideas. The drive for permanence is not just led by information disappearing through time, but also via other ways, for example censorship.

This issues is not just related to permanence of data, but also of naming, services..

Questions

  • Is this about permanence of data? permanence of naming?
  • What are the challenges in promising permanence?
  • What are the advantages and disadvantages of permanence?
