Comments
Hi @gitressa, I'm researching this area, and have already tried adding comments using GitHub issues (but I'll probably try Discussions because they're more customizable) to our upcoming add-on registry, which may become part of ddev.com: Adding comments to the blog itself sounds great! |
Thanks, I am glad to hear you like the suggestion :) I do think that avoiding requiring account creation if possible (for example Github) would be preferable. In Drupal, using a Version Control System (VCS) is common, but not so much in some other CMS'es. So we cannot assume that everyone has a Github account. In other words - ideally, it should be possible to leave a comment, without having an account, anywhere. This limits the options ... I know. |
I think we'll go with GitHub authentication, mainly because it has built-in reactions on comments and will also serve as a spam filter. If this were a blog about travel, cooking, or fashion, GitHub might not make much sense. But since we're all developers and everyone uses GitHub, it seems like the best option in my opinion. |
@gitressa has signed up to do moderation! Of course, if github auth is required it would probably be OK. I gave up on comments on regular Drupal sites 10 or 12 years ago, it was just too much work. |
It would be great if the readers could leave a comment under a blog post, since that's a pretty common feature for a blog.
It looks like there is no built in solution, but here are a few methods:
