My code is: import cv2 import numpy as np from netaddr import * # address = "192.168.71.50" address = "fe80::76fe:48ff:fe43:e516" cap = cv2.VideoCapture("http://[%s]:8554/live/scene" % address) if (cap.isOpened()== False): print("Error opening video stream or file") while(cap.isOpened()): ret, frame = cap.read() if ret == True: cv2.imshow('Tobii Pro Glasses 2 - Live Scene',frame) if cv2.waitKey(1) & 0xFF == ord('q'): break else: break cap.release() cv2.destroyAllWindows() when the program are address = "192.168.71.50" and cap = cv2.VideoCapture("http://%s:8554/live/scene" % address) , it can run successfully. However, when it is address = "fe80::76fe:48ff:fe43:e516" and cap = cv2.VideoCapture("http://[%s]:8554/live/scene" % address), it it cannot run successfully.

it's not easy to understand the situation from your snippet.
It seems that IPv6 is not enabled in your network manager. I suggest you to check out the wiki and try a simple IPv6 connection test first.
