List of extensions and how we installed them:

https://github.com/HHS/ckanext-datajson

As root,
I downloaded the master zip from https://github.com/GSA/ckanext-datajson (commit 177c9d8719964feed341541aae9a4d1009944be5 to be exact) and unzipped it into /root/ckanext-datajson. 
cd ~/ckanext-datajson
mv ckanext-datajson-master /usr/lib/ckan/default/src/ckanext-datajson
And then I followed the instructions on the githup site

The instructions here were very good and included tests

1) Follow the installation instructions to install the extension. General installation instructions:

git clone https://github.com/xxxx/ckanext-yyyy.git
cd ckanext-yyyy
python setup.py develop
pip install -r dev-requirements.txt

OR

pip install -e  git+https://github.com/xxxxx/ckanextyyyyy#egg=ckanext-yyyyy


2) Log into the ckan box and follow the instructions to run the test cases.
