What happened?
Im completely new to librechat and railway, having never used either service. I am however an experienced devops/sysadmin who has plenty of experience with app deployments, azure, docker, etc.
I figured I would simply follow the documentation instead of making assumptions about how the deployment is configured, and did exactly as the guides recommended. At NO POINT in any of the documentation did it mention needing to upgrade the free plan to a paid plan.
I then deployed librechat using railway, which failed a different way each time. I spent HOURS just now troubleshooting, diagnosing, digging through dozens of unfamiliar logs, reading up on all of the involved technology, mapping out the various services, examine porting configurations and networking routing, only to finally realize that the issue was due to either using a feature only available in the pro sub, or using more resources than the trial machines have available. Im unsure as to which of those is true because even after all of the work I did I never could nail down exactly what the constraint was (as the process failed differently every time and the logs were worthless and only mentioned whatever random part of the deployment it happened to be at when it failed. ).
After paying the 5 bucks and upgrading my account the deployment worked perfectly, first try.
The documentation really should mention that a paid plan is required, I had no issues paying I just didn't know it was the problem. If it said upfront that the deployment wouldn't work with a trial account I would have just upgraded right away and saved three hours of my life.
