Hello,
I have a Samsung A70 with android 11 ( latest available firmware).
Every time I run sd maid it asks me to complete the configuration related to the public archive (or secondary archive).
Clicking on the “red button” opens a screen from where however it is not possible to select the path indicated on the button.

How can I solve this?
I wanted to use the scheduling feature, but if I don't fix this part of the configuration, the scheduling starts but tells me that I have to complete the configuration.

Thank you,
Claudio

At moment I wouldn't call it "bug" 😉

Have you enabled all permissions for SD-Maid SE? SDMaid SE requires full access to your system, without it can't do anything.
If this problem will exist after enable all permission, then provide a debug log please, the instructions you can find here in the FAQ for SD-Maid SE.

It's possible that your ROM has updated the files app, and the newer version of that app has restrictions that prevent you from granting the access. SD Maid 1 has no special logic for that edge case and will just keep asking for the permission.

Options:

  • Ignore the permission and use the app without it (will be less thorough)
  • Try to see if the files app update can be uninstalled, grant the permission, then it doesn't matter if it is updated again
  • Switch to SD Maid 2/SE and see if the permission handling there can deal with the situation
